Re: Security Film for Windows and Door Glass

Antsy, Is the 3m a diy job? Any insight on cost? Scrounger, Every job is potentially a diy job :D That being said, I paid a window film company to do the work as my clients aren't paying me to "learn a new skill" on their project. It's not inexpensive either, however I don't know the hard...

Re: Security Film for Windows and Door Glass

I've installed the 3m product commercially. In my experience, the product is only as good at the window mullions and door substrate that holds the glazing in place. Something to think about.

Re: Peak Oil or Peak Demand

Agreed, carbon in terms of wood & coal - since the dawn of fire. That will remain accessible (geography permitting). But beyond that, I don't see how - without some form of organised society - it'll be possible to access either oil or gas supplies. I would consider Venezuela as a good example o...

Re: Peak Oil or Peak Demand

How do we source carbon in the future? Are you kidding? Have you ever sat at a camp fire? We have been running a carbon based economy for as long as we have been making tools and living with fire. Unless I missed the news article declaring the discovery of cold fusion, I suspect we will be reliant o...

Re: Right Now.

Skillman, I can't tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Really bad things happen to good people and it hurts, and is awful. I've been saying for some time now that the situation that you are going through is exactly what SHTF looks like. And how do we prep for something like this? Please know that ...

Re: In case you missed it, The rubicon has been crossed

Peppercorn, I hear what you're saying however I'm just not ready to start writing an obit' for the USA quite yet. I will grant that the political culture of the country has been in decline for twenty to thirty years and appears to be in free fall. Thankfully, the country is much more than the sum of...

Re: In case you missed it, The rubicon has been crossed

Peppercorn, For the most part I agree with everything you post. In this case, however, a couple of things jumped out at me as, "Oh no, Peppercorn has drunk the Koolaid!" First of all, I agree that Chancellor Merkel has been a great leader for both Germany and the EU. She has shown both int...

Re: Another Obstacle

Interesting perspectives... Wayne writes, " When SHTF..." Jonesy replys, "If SHTF..." My advice. Don't live in a US city the size of New Orleans, which is on a geological fault, or on a flood plain, or is a political hotspot. (I'd be willing to include Toronto, Quebec City, and V...

Re: Your opinion on stocking Canadian nickles?

My opinion is, "Don't do it." That is, unless you have some information about the future that the rest of us don't. Now, if you are looking for a hobby and are enthusiastic about coins then I would say, go for it. Your post, however, suggests that you are concerned about some unnamed calam...
