Re: My Personal body guard!

I didn’t proofread well. I meant to say the dog could bleed out.

Re: My Personal body guard!

Just a note. I used to breed and show StBernards. One of the breeds in their past are Tibetan mastiffs. You are right about them being mushes with the family but very protective. My Saints seemed to have limits though. One day friends came over and our two daughters were fighting over a toy. The oth...

Re: Happy New Year

Wow! I hope that the rescue of that pilot whale is a good omen for 2018 for everyone. But I’m a realistic optimists-so I’m just glad you had a chance to get that warm fuzzy feeling you got from it! Still I hope that everyone has their best year ever!

Re: Advice on location

I’m not sure what the prices are out there these days. The things you need to look for are rules for the county. Some counties have a moritorium on subdividing. And some have rules about what constitutes an “outbuilding”. In mine it has to be max 120 sq ft and 14 ft tall so not all regulations can b...

Re: Bug out property?!

I have my property already, but this looked like a fit for some people. They rent out the property. That might be a good way to help with the mortgage and you could have a couple of seacans of supplies behind the trees and the weekends it wasn't booked you could enjoy it

In my case I'd be more inclined to train the family members holed up with me to do all the nessesary jobs to feed and protect our "hive". Even family can be disloyal, but in a time of trouble I'd have to have history with someone to feel safe. "Family" to me includes blood and lon...

Bug out property?!

I saw an ad for a property that might be good for Preppers. It's near Onoway, on 29 acres with 3 small rustic cabins. Might be something a few families could share. If you go to Arlie Jespersen's website and put in the ML# There is a slide show of the property. There is a pond that maybe could be st...

Peanuts

Heard on CBC that Holes green house is carrying a hardy type of peanut seed that will grow around Edmonton. I was not ready for them this year, but plan to get some going next year. Good source of protein and I don't think my Hubby could go for long without peanut butter! Just wanted to pass that on...

Re: Off grid campsites.

Sounds like a good set up! Great for people who don't want to buy a bug out location. Is there a guarantee that they can remain as long as their rent is paid? And a way to evict them if they cause problems? Have you made sure in your contract that someone couldn't claim squatters rights and put a li...

Re: Re-establishing bug out zones

I read something a while back about the number of exits out of Calgary in a disaster. If I were you I would not only consider an exit in your end of town but also-which roads would the "powers that be" might shut down. I would consider all the scenarios you can think of. I worry that route...
