Re: Looking to meet like minded individuals...

Reason they had big families. Some lived close to help each other out. No way 1 person can do. Shit we are like 80% off grid. Still work the other 20% there 2 of us and still to much work. Hopefully will get a few others to join group in the new yr. Not just summer weekend people.

Re: Is it me or what?

You should all be trained in #4 . Its nice to have all the toys. But Murphy law. Always happens. So best to be able to do it with a pocket knife and be able to survive. Skills and knowledge could be all you have in the long run.

Location not a issue in alberta. Question is how many acres. Type of land. Aka all trees or open. House on it or not and so on.

Re: would you live here?

Not to be rude. But odds are it wont happen. Unless some modern tools. Yes most off us have the tools for old school stuff. But lets see you chop a tree by axe. Chop it into section to split it and see if you would want to do that every day. Shit thats a big amount for here in alberta. 5 cords if no...

Re: Saving on Rent

Size matters. Living in Canada you have to have 3 sets of clothing. Summer. Fall. Winter. Spring. Now talking from experience over 1 yr off grid. Started with tent trailer. Then a 21 foot 5th wheel and now a 33ft 5th wheel but a newer style. But all depends on how many are in living space. Now van m...

Re: Is 8' sand point safe or deeper

Depending on what your building. More wieght of a wall decide allot to footings and distance of footings and how deep you might need to go. But might be wrong on what your talking about. If a well deeper the better. Plus if that get water tested before you drink it.

Re: Remembering Sept. 11, 2001

Personally i wouldn't call it a terrorist attack. My point of view on what i have seen on it all is inside job. But won't point out why. Info all online. But i was in the middle of the bush working. Didn't find out till i was in cell range and then spent hrs trying to get a hold of my brother that w...

Re: Skill Sets

Well said peppercorn. Been there done that lol over a yr off grid in tent trailer and upgrade to 5th wheel and now upgrade to a bigger unit. Like to see most you get used to plus 7 Celsius as your temperature in the winter lol. Trust me you get used to it after a bit. But this yr ready. First winter...
