I'm so sorry your sister lost her dogs to that type of criminal activity...it makes my blood boil when this sort of thing happens. Maybe these companies need a nice big litigation from a disgruntled customer before they'll lift their game.
I don't like the smell of commercial pet food (makes me gag...yuk!) but most of my friends (and family) feed commercial food to their animals. If this "product" is making people sick just by handling it, then what the hell are they putting in it?

Yes, sorry, so sorry... I love pooches... was the recently recalled food from China? I think the other batch was.

I've often thought of hauling a road kill deer home to make pet food, does anyone know how I would ascertain whether it was alright, wouldn't want to spread chronic wasting to my pooches.

most fresh road kill that is taken off the roads by municipal peeps go to the local dog catchers for use in their systems. free dogs, free food. other road kill that is not fresh and you can see if it has already bloated or not quite easily, is put into the gully to feed the local insects and carrion eaters. do not feed these to your pooches, it will kill them! even coyotes avoid carcases that are already bloating.

not sure if the stuff was from China or not? I switched to the higher end brand sold at presidents choice/real Canadian super stores, they have not had a recall for years and they are located everywhere!

I can tell you definitively that most of moose that are killed on the roads in parts of Northern Ontario never make it to the local dog catcher. They end up much higher in the food chain.
