Recommended Read for all Preppers

The Book: One Second After by William R. Forstchen (ISBN # 978-0-7653-5686-4) http://www.onesecondafter.com

This book came to my attention after I heard it was being discussed on the floor of the U.S. Congress.

This book is a work of Fiction and focus's on one man's attempt to keep his family alive after an EMP hits the U.S. It is a heart wrenching read that will hit home with any Prepper whether casual or serious.

The Author is a Military Historian and this book was written after many discussions he had with some of his high ranking friends in the U.S. Military

Although this book is Fiction is rings true in so many ways, on how poorly our modern world is prepared for such an attack and what it just might take to survive.

Whether an act of War/Terrorism or as a result of a Solar Event (CME) Is an EMP something to worry about? Each person will have to decide that for themselves.

Personally, no matter how remote this may be, I'd rather try and be prepared for it, and looking at my current Preps I am truly among those who are poorly prepared for such a disaster.

Whether you take this seriously or not, I recommend everyone read this book.

I've read it three times. It's a great read regardless and there is lots of food for thought in how a person might deal with situations/personalities. I highly recommend it as well!

Thanks to your suggestion, I just bought it on my Kobo. After the first two chapters I am hooked and will likely read it throughout the day, interspersed with my chores. Thanks for the heads-up!

some members of our group brought this book to my attention, then one of my favorites from the group put it on a thumb drive for me to read...amazing & frightening and had much I never thought of! I am now terrified to end up in a hospital or seniors facility where my meals/water/care is not up to me...have to be able to live at my home until I die!

Amazing book and true to the reality of what could be based on facts and an appreciation of our current reality.

I liked Lights Out better, but it was a good read.

I have read One Second After. And Lights Out. And even Patriots. I'm currently working threw book 5 of 299 Days.

I'm saddened that there isn't anything remotely Canadian out there (that I know of). While I sympathize with the American scene, I'm not American. I

If there is Canadian content out there, please share what it is. I mean, if even if its websites or anything. I'm starved for home cooking, in a sense.
