Apparently it has been cheaper to outsource all of our prescription drug manufacturing to China so that we either get the product totally complete there or some components. They aren't shipping and we don't have the capacity to create our own. Hence...shortages.

Re: 2019-nCoV
Has anyone else heard or read that the quarantine period should have been 24 days not the 14 that all of the governments have been imposing? If that is true there are going to be a lot of infected people wandering around thinking all is good.

Re: Are you prepping for the coronavirus?
This is a good reminder that things can happen. From job loss to tornadoes to viruses..it is comforting to know that you are as well prepared as possible to weather any storm! LOL Supplies and transportation are never a certainty and it is easier to gather slowly and maintain your ability to be self...

Re: Go Tenna
And one of us has a radio license so we have that option as well. But a lot of people don't want to spend the extra money and go through the licensing process. At some point the license might not matter, but for now it does and a "friendly" option could be the Go Tenna which is cheaper tha...

Re: Go Tenna
You are right, not everybody would spend money on communications. You can always yell out your back door or get a couple of tin cans and some string. I put value on a people powered system that is more secure. It's all about choices.

We have just ordered a 4 pack of these. The network appears to be expanding and they are upgrading to allow more "hops". Anyone else tried these yet?

Re: TGIF~ Stocking up on Drugs ~
My m-i-law caught mrsa in the hospital. After trying to get it under control for over a year the hospital treated some sores she developed with silver dressings. Worked to start clearing it up within a few days and several weeks later it was totally resolved. Silver is a good thing to keep around. N...

Re: Storing food across temperature extremes?
Freeze-dried food can be stored at temperatures up to 23C safely and is not bothered by freezing. Canned food should be stored in a cool dark location. High acid foods such as canned tomatoes and canned fruit should be used within about 18 months and low acid (most vegetables) are good for 2-5 years...

Re: would you live here?
I'm in my early 60's. Would I choose to live without running water, indoor plumbing and power? I remember the farm when there was no running water, power or indoor plumbing and going to the outhouse in the middle of winter, turning on the lanterns at night, and pumping water by hand out in the yard ...
