Re: Re-purposed survival gear

I have carpal tunnel or tendonitis in my wrist. I have a physical job, housekeeping and maintenance in a small hotel. Either repetitive motion or heavy lifting. So I quite often use duct tape on my wrist. The brand that is readily available at work doesn't cause any skin reactions. (I have a differe...

Re: Posterity

Is there anyone out there who has a diary keeper or aspiring novelist in their group. One of the female members of my group is a family history buff and diary keeper. She records our group progress and mistakes. If TEOTWAWKI happens she will record the day to day life of our group for future refere...

Re: Primitive survival skills

For me my most useful primitive survival skill is the ability to think clearly while being angry enough to take action. I attribute all my problems to being an only child with overbearing parents. I was always on the defensive without having learned to defend my opinions/desires. When I was older th...

Re: The last megathrust earthquake

Was reading a link posted earlier, by wookie, that was written by Dr. Gerard Fryer, so I googled him, came across this little video, it's a year old now, but we are still in the active phase. http://www.sciencespacerobots.com/blog/121520111 It was after the Japan earthquake in Mar 2011 when I kicked...

Re: What Are You Prepping For?

I'm lazy and I prep for when I can't or do not want to leave the house. I can stay bugged in for months and longer if needed. I have a plan in place to leave too, and a back up plan failing that. Ah yes, a kindred spirit. But my "back up plan failing that" is to die quietly in my bed. It'...

Re: Vote online Veils during Oaths

I was reading a few pages of the comments below the article, some indicated that the poll had been overloaded with "no's" from other countries, but when I viewed the results it showed an overwhelming "yes" trend. Wonder what that was about?

Re: Books

Susannah755 -- thanks! It must be genetic, my mom fully expects to go to the "Great Library in the Sky" when she dies.
But I am a novice compared to my friend, paintergirl, now there is a voracious reader! :ugeek:

Re: Books

Just started to read "The Day of St. Anthony's Fire - the suspenseful, true account of a medieval plague in modern times, and of the scientific detective work that traced it to a surprising cause." It's an older book, published in 1968. This is the true story of a small French village in ...

Re: Air travel bag! What do I take with me.

This is a real puzzler to me. What CAN you take on the plane? (I won't fly anymore, hate the whole thing: security check, cramped seating, people, etc.) But I have put a lot of thought into this question, so here goes. Those paracord bracelets seem safe to get by security, how about a paracord neckl...

Came across this interesting site, gives the RCMP perspective on terrorism. "Radicalization: a guide for the perplexed" June 2009. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:IrFfMS_IG4QJ:www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/pubs/nsci-ecrsn/radical-eng.pdf+canada%27s+national+defense+plan+usa+warwick&...
