Re: Do you plan to be a lonewolf or part of a like minded ba
This is a very good question for digging deep into your own mind. My first thought is that I am/would be a lonewolf. In-my-dreams. In reality I have obligations, aging parents who are now relying on me to help them face the world. My mother is in complex care, if something catastrophic happens maint...

Re: Recycling milk bag question...
I haven't tried milk bags, but I save the liners from Triscuits (love that "cracked pepper and olive oil")
, to store dehydrated veggies. (earthquake zone, not into glass jars)

Re: Freeman on the land
What I'm advocating is that we stop being pigs with the earth's resources. You don't need to drive a 6000 lb SUV around town by yourself at 10 mpg. Heat your pool to 90 deg with fossil fuels and let half of it escape overnight. Do you need to use treated, potable water to spray over acres of grass?...

Re: Economic Collapse- Your View
JRWakefield, enjoying your well thought out and well written posts on this subject. I have been on a steep learning curve these past years since 2008, and I always appreciate another analysis and point of view. Please continue to provide us food for thought. After the near collapse of the world econ...

Re: Knife question
ratdogmom: yes, it was over by the guys' stuff, last fall, there was a lot of camping stuff at that time. I still think about a crank lantern I saw there but didn't buy as it was just a little too much. ('cause I'm cheap.) Here is a picture of it from the Coast website: http://www.coastportla...

It's a good idea, with/for kids or not, because in a time of crisis people will often blank out, I know I would.

Re: Knife question
I lucked into a really cute folding pocket knife at Winners (of all places), 3" blade, Coast brand ("quality since 1919"), with a webbed holder for on a belt. Not bad quality at far as this "not an expert" can tell. Guess the price!
$5.00 !!
