Re: June 27 - July 1 Waiparous Bug out

Well, I don't know "Burning Timber" so can't say. Waiparous is mostly drive in and drive out and camp anywhere but you can park and hike too. Something I havent done yet actually. I often drive in and pull up along the river anywhere.

Re: June 27 - July 1 Waiparous Bug out

I will be gearing up for spring camping again this year up at Waiparous. You should all consider the location. Its a valley, it goes on for a very long time so good bug out location should you want it. You can fire your guns up there so camping and fire arms practice make for a fun time. You can get...

Prepping for us, daily life for them

130 yrs ago the daily living of our ancestors is pretty much what we prep for now. A great article to remind us of what was, what could be again and how to get your head wrapped around it. http://www.askaprepper.com/lost-ways-survival-1880/ Copy/pasted below as well... The “SHTF” we all prep for is ...

Re: Your take on the world and what we should be most concer

At present there are no threats that I am aware of and I consider myself fairly in the loop. I suspect the ideal thing to prep for is the unknown event. Things such as a storm, flood like Calgarys and High Rivers event, Bizarre viral outbreak, anything that requires you to stay put and bunker down. ...

Re: Self sufficientcy vs shooting hungry neigbours

Glad you are enjoying/enjoyed it. Found number 2 in the series the other day but its on the shelf screaming at me to read it. I'm distracted with book 5 of The Remaining series at the moment. ;) Another good series but more along the line of The Crazies and with heavy military overtones. Not much to...

Re: Self sufficientcy vs shooting hungry neigbours

A particularly entertaining book I came across in the teen fiction section at Chapters is a book called The Rule of Three. It pretty much encompasses everything in this discussion. Power goes out and nobody knows why (how could we know if all electronics kicked off?) and luckily there is an experien...

Re: 72 hour survival container

Thanks for all the positive posts gang. Keep it up. I hate trolls. :) I picked the canteen up at the army surplus store in Inglewood in Calgary. You can get metal too. I mulled this over for some time. I have a stainless steel nalgene type water bottle so for carrying... that one does the trick. I l...

Re: 72 hour survival container

Thanks Goldie. Just to add... I think the toothbrush and toothpaste is a waste of space... I think a tampon and pad might be a great addition for injuries and filtering etc. I think I will steal some of those from my daughter and mortify her right good. lol.

72 hour survival container

So I came up with this today. I figure there is enough there to keep you going a few days at least... possibly much more depending on your skill level. The idea is to have this on you ALL the time. When you are in your vehicle... it is too. When you camp, and drop your big bag and go searching for f...
