Anyone having flashbacks to 1998?
What are you doing right now for last minute preparations? Or are you already well set?

Want to see the future, past or the unknown? Learn to be psychic. Ask me how!
A good time to invest in spf3000 if you live on the NK penninsula.
Oh November 17, how I fear thee...

We ran out for some extra gas for the generator just in case but otherwise all is well
Everyone is home safe and sound - now to just wait it out...

Be careful all!
Clean out those woodstoves and have the ash ready to apply to slippery spots...or bags of sand/salt.
Oh and don't forget the ingredients for the french toast.
(eggs, milk and bread)

We geared up this week and are all good for food and supplies. Broke out the Mexican blankets for extra cover. Just wished we had our own home so I could get a wood burning stove installed and a fire place. That is next on my list for the new year - Job and own home. Hope everyone is doing good and Merry Christmas

Re: Ontario Ice Storm 2013
I'm ready as I'll ever be -have been since we were without power for 2 Weeks during the 1998 Ice Storm...my family of 6. Now it's just the the 3 of us with 12 more arriving tomorrow lol!
Got my cell phone charged and all the batteries charged....even brought in the solar garden lights.
I have 220 liters of water and coolers ready in the garage for my frozen food if the power goes out
.
I heat with wood anyway.

Well it's 4am, can't sleep due to the sound of ice rain pelting the house. Hubby was out on the roof this afternoon clearing off an accumulation of snow and ice (right now I'm very happy he did). Brought wood in too, not sure we could make it to the wood shed without skates. Wood stove is going fine, house is warm and so far still have power and internet.
Took care of laundry yesterday and have filled buckets of water in the bathtub. Son was supposed to fly in from Edmonton on Fri but missed his flight so now coming on Monday. At least he can stay with my sister in Ottawa for the night and hope it's ok for driving on Tues.
Take care everyone and stay safe.

This is a great chance to try your preps out folks'
IMO Its also a chance to educate and help out your neighbors.
The folks around you may have no power or no heat. Do you have local old folks all alone
A place to charge a cell phone, warm up or get a hot bowl of soup will make their day.
I think part of prepping has to be helping to educate others and in this way build community.
