What are you hunting for?

Post by WestCoastSurvival » Sun Sep 02, 2012 7:15 pm

With hunting season approaching just wondering what everyone is hoping to fill there freezers with this winter? And by what means do you hunt (bow, crossbow, muzzleloader, rifle, shotgun)
For myself I was lucky enough to get a moose tag for Oct. 1 and will be picking up a mule tag aswell. I'll be using a 7mm rem mag.

I'm hoping by next season I'll be out hunting. What, I'm not sure. I've only really gotten into the idea of it this year, and I still need to get my PAL and get a gun or two. I'm also trying to figure out how to go hunting as a single parent who knows no one who hunts.....Maybe by next season I'll have that part figured out, lol.

I'll be looking for a moose in the not too distant future, as well as a black bear. Maybe a whitetail if I see the right one. I use rifle, muzzleloader and archery. Probably shoot a few mallards for the freezer as well when the northerns are in.

This will be my first serious year for deer. Crossbow and rifle (M1A in .308) in season. Used to hunt rabbit and grouse with a .22.
Moose would be great but too far away, too expensive. I remember fondly the mooseburgers we had on the grill when my father was still around.

I enjoy grouse hunting and other small game. Im also going out for deer season. Didnt get a moose tag or else id be doing that too. I missed both my chances at going out duck and geese hunting but hopefully I can make that up next year.

rifle - white tail and moose
We are 3 couples and rotate our priorities so we almost always get a moose tag; if not the moose

This season we actually got 2 moose and 6 white tail amongst the group!

We'll need another freezer as this is with 1/3 of the first moose and 1/2 a dear...
